saker (Fr. sacre, sacret). An ancient 4- or 5-pounder of 13 feet,
weighing from 2500 to 2800 pounds. According to Tartaglia, the sacre,
in 1546, was a 12-pounder of 9 feet, and weighing 2150 pounds; it was
similar to the aspic, but longer.
